California's Artisan Cheese Festival Petaluma

From the folks who bring you California’s Artisan Cheese Festival:

Welcome to
Cheese Country Tours
!

You asked for more tours, and we got ‘em! Join us for a journey through Northern California’s dairies and creameries. From multi-generation, family-owned farms to start-up cheesemakers who only recently shed their cubicles, we explore local cheesemaking in all its incarnations.

What can you expect from a Cheese Country Tour? We’re glad you asked. Here are some of the things to expect and some of what makes us unique.

  • Each tour visits three farms and/or creameries in Sonoma and Marin counties. Most locations are seldom if ever open to the public. Through our non-profit festival we have come to know each of these farmers personally, and we are all committed to making your tour the best experience it can be.
  • Tours are limited to 20 people. We hear over and over again from farmers about how engaged and friendly our tour groups are. Expect to enjoy the company of your fellow cheese enthusiasts.
  • An expert guide will accompany each tour to provide cheese education between destinations and to answer any questions along the way.
  • Lunch is included! A picnic box lunch and bottled water will be provided by CCT, including vegetarian options.

Pure LuxuryWe travel together to each destination by coach. For five years Pure Luxury Transportation has been our transportation partner for the festival. Their record for providing comfortable and professional service is impeccable. A leader in environmental responsibility, Pure Luxury is a member of Green Ride Global.

Policies & Suggestions

Bring cash and a small cooler if you wish to purchase cheese. Some creameries will be selling cheese, but not all.

Wear comfortable (and durable) clothing and shoes. We also recommend bringing a jacket in case the weather turns cold or wet.

All tours will depart from and return to either the Sheraton Sonoma County - Petaluma or The Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing. (See individual tour descriptions for details of depart/return location information.) Parking is available for the day, free of charge at both locations. For safety reasons guests aren’t permitted to drive themselves.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to departure for check-in. Late arrivals will be considered no shows.

Return schedules are approximate: We may return slightly earlier or later than scheduled.

No dogs or babies are permitted on the tour. Children must be over the age of 12 and each child must be accompanied by an adult. (We will offer a family tour later in the season for you and your little ones.)

Cancellations: Tour reservations are non-refundable. Some tour reservations may be transferable to another tour, as space permits and with at least 48 hours notice. Transfers to another person will be accepted with 12 hours notice.

Tours take place rain or shine. In the unlikely event we have to cancel a tour, you will be given a voucher for a future tour.

Visit the 2011 tour schedule for information on specific tours.
